is a privileged area with charming natural areas that aren’t much exploited
by tourism but to a local level. If you have spend enough time in cities and
long for a closer contact with nature let me take you out to the countryside! The
following excursions are conceived to show you some of the best nature in
Catalonia. Most of them involve some walking in forest paths: we will only
use transportation to get to the sites, but then we will continue on foot (comfortable
shoes are strongly recommended).

The
Mona Foundation
LENGTH: Full day excursion. DIFFICULTY: Easy. *** Great for children! Mona
Foundation (the Monkey Foundation) is a local organization set up to rescue
chimpanzees and other primates from poor conditions in captivity. Visitors to
the Mona sanctuary can watch families of chimps exploring the towers,

volunteers are always on hand to explain the story of the rescue of the
chimps and answer questions about the protection of primates in the wild. After the
visit we’ll head to Girona
for lunch and some light sightseeing. Or for 790
euro, head instead to the beaches of Tossa de Mar. |

stairs in Rupit). Discover the Pantà de Sau with its impressive
cliffs, and see the old belltower of the flooded ancient village of Sau, if
the water is low. If instead it has been a rainy season, the Horse Tail
waterfall will impress you. Later we will continue to Rupit, a charming
picturesque village with houses in the heart of a green deep valley. |
